Polar Bear Visit | May 2013
Wilfried Kalinowski of Germany took this picture of 2 polar bears paying a visit to the nearby community of St. Lunaire on May 1, 2013. Bear sightings are common in springtime in this area as ice breaks up.

Giant Iceberg in Goose Cove
2011 was a great year for icebergs in St. Anthony and surrounding areas. Icebergs continually peeled away from the huge Petermann Ice Island located off Newfoundland’s Northern Peninsula. Goose Cove is a 9km drive from St. Anthony.

Northern Newfoundland hosts the highest concentration of moose in the world. Enjoy sunset drives with a spectacular showing of moose, grazing alongside the roads. Always keep your "moose eyes" open - particularly during spring & summer months.

Lamage Point in St. Anthony
Follow the trail of Lamage Point to view the Fishing Point Lighthouse from afar. This trail is easy to walk and well-groomed. The highlights are the vastness of the St. Anthony Bight Harbour and the surrounding mountains. Allow about 1 hour.

Spectacular Whale Watching
Whale season is from May thru July. Our region has the longest whale watching season in North America. This is due to the immense capelin feeding grounds, which surround our area. Capelin is also the key food of the Atlantic Cod and many other fish.

Cruise Ship Visit
The town of St. Anthony regularly receives many cruise ship visits in the summer season. The Tahitian Princess cruise ship (above) visited St. Anthony in July 2009. This cruise ship tour carried 670 passengers and had a crew of 373 people.

Goose Cove, Newfoundland is a popular sight-seeing venture for tourists and residents. Hiking here is always an exhilarating experience. Icebergs were especially plentiful in this area during the summer 2011. Goose Cove is a 9km drive from St. Anthony.

Icebergs at Fishing Point
Icebergs were especially plentiful in this area during summer 2011. Fishing Point (located in St. Anthony) had a busy summer with lots of tourists, residents and iceberg visits. Some icebergs were nearly close enough to shore to reach out and touch.
